Tamarack
Larix laricina
Tamarack (also called eastern larch) is a true conversation piece: a cone-bearing tree that turns glowing gold in October and drops its needles for winter, then grows fresh, soft green needles each spring. It grows naturally in bogs and wet lowlands, so it thrives where most evergreens would drown.
