Small in-house crew

Planting & install

A tree is only as good as its planting. Our small in-house team delivers and plants the trees you buy from our farm — and can finish the job with soil, mulch and stone.

Tree & shrub planting

Delivery and professional planting of trees and shrubs from our farm — single specimens, privacy rows, windbreaks and naturalized plantings.

Beds, soil & mulch

New planting beds around your trees, topsoil spreading for small areas, and fresh mulch to finish everything off.

Decorative stone accents

River rock borders, drip edges, dry creek beds and accent boulders to complement your new plantings.

Done properly

How we plant a tree

Most new trees that fail are planted too deep, left in their wrapping, or not watered. Our crew follows proven arboricultural practice on every job:

  • Utility locates arranged through Ontario One Call before any digging
  • Siting advice for mature size — away from wires, foundations and septic beds
  • A wide, shallow hole with the root flare set at or slightly above grade
  • Burlap, twine and the top of the wire basket removed or cut back
  • Backfilled with native soil, watered in deeply, and mulched — never piled against the trunk
  • Staking only when needed, with a written watering plan to take home

New tree care in a nutshell

Water deeply

About 20–40 litres per watering, once or twice a week for the first two seasons — more in heat and drought, less after heavy rain. Keep watering until the ground freezes in fall.

Mulch, don't volcano

Keep a 5–8 cm (2–3 in.) mulch ring out to the drip line, pulled back a hand's width from the trunk. Refresh yearly.

Protect & be patient

Guard young trunks from mowers, trimmers and rodents. Skip fertilizer the first year — a new tree is busy growing roots.
