Mulch keeps roots cool and moist, holds back weeds and gives beds a finished look. We sell it by the cubic yard from our farm in South Stormont, minutes from Cornwall and Long Sault — pick up with a truck or trailer, or have it delivered with your trees.
Mulch we carry
Two options: a natural mulch that's best for the trees, and a dark mulch that's best for the look.
Natural shredded mulch
Undyed shredded wood mulch — our pick for around trees and shrubs. It knits together on slopes, breaks down into the soil over time and has no dye to worry about around edibles.
Black mulch
A rich dark colour for crisp, finished garden beds and foundation plantings. Holds its colour through the season for a clean, modern look.

How much mulch do I need?
Enter your bed size and depth to estimate cubic yards. As a rule of thumb: 2–3 in. around trees, shrubs and beds. One yard covers roughly 100 sq. ft. at 3 inches.

How to mulch a new tree
- Spread mulch in a wide ring, 2–3 inches deep, out to the edge of the branches if you can.
- Keep mulch a hand's width away from the trunk. A "mulch volcano" piled against the bark traps moisture and invites rot.
- Top it up each spring as it settles and breaks down.

How much does a yard of mulch cover?
About 100 sq. ft. at 3 inches deep, or 160 sq. ft. at 2 inches. Use the calculator above for your exact beds.
Natural or black mulch — which should I use?
Around trees, shrubs and vegetable beds, natural shredded mulch is the better choice. For foundation beds and front-yard gardens where colour matters, black mulch gives the crispest look.
Do you deliver mulch?
Yes — across South Stormont, Cornwall, Long Sault, Ingleside and nearby SD&G communities. We can bring it with your tree and soil order in a single trip. Delivery is quoted by distance and load.
Can I buy mulch without buying trees?
Yes. Our supplies are geared to our tree customers, but you're welcome to buy mulch on its own, subject to availability.
